For the third consecutive year Golfweek magazine recognises Punta Espada Golf Course at Cap Cana.

 Cap Cana, Dominican Republic - November 13, 2009 – Important scenario for worldwide tournaments, and headquarters to the PGA TOUR's Champions Tour, The Cap Cana Championship, Punta Espada golf course, the first of three golf courses, Jack Nicklaus signature design at Cap Cana, has once again, been selected as the best golf course in the Caribbean and Mexico by the prestigious and famous golf magazine, Golfweek, achieving once again the first position in this important annual list.

"We are very proud to have the best golf course in the Caribbean and Mexico.” This recognition and the beauty of the area confirm this, "said Dr. Ricardo Hazoury, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cap Cana", he added: “this is not only a distinction for Cap Cana, but for the Dominican Republic, because with this type of acknowledgements we have reached the international stage as a major new golf destination.The world is already taking note of world class design golf courses in the Dominican Republic, either by the seaside, as Punta Espada, or like others surrounded by beaches and mountains, which are certainly a paradise for this sport’s fans".

Since its opening in November 2006, with an investment of 18 million dollars, Punta Espada, par 72, has been operated by Troon Golf, a leading and highly regarded worldwide company.

On the other hand, Mr.Mark Clouse, Punta Espada’s Golf Course Director, said: "in 2008 edition, Punta  Espada got the third position in this ranking, but  due to the excellent conditions and performance,  the majesty of its design and high degree of satisfaction obtained from members and customers, we have reached the number one position for two consecutive years. We will continue working to keep this place".

Other selected golf courses in this ranking were: Mid Ocean, in Bermuda, La Querencia in Los Cabos, Mexico, and also in the Dominican Republic, Teeth of the Dog, at Casa de Campo.
