Claro-Codetel Team won first place at the Second Edition of the David Ortiz Celebrity Golf Classic at Cap Cana

The second and third place was won by  teams headed by Placido Polanco and Jeffrey Donovan

Cap Cana, DR,  December  6, 2009 .The Claro-Codetel team,  with Ubaldo Jimenez, as the team leader,  won first place in the second edition of the David Ortiz Celebrity Golf Classic in the tournament  that ended last Saturday in Punta Espada Golf Course and the Sanctuary Hotel Golf & Spa at  Cap Cana

Jimenez had the support of  golfers Alejandro Jovine, Jose Hernandez, Leo Sanchez and Rafael Chireno.

Second place was won by the group led by Placido Polanco, who was accompanied by the experienced Mark Clouse, Jeff Neal, Jose Mercedes, David Ortiz and his wife Tiffany.

Third place went to Jeffrey Donovan and his fellow Tin For, Jack Wells, Mike Estes and Ben Finneran.

The  award ceremony took place on Saturday night  with a gala dinner and an auction,  offered by David Ortiz Foundation.  There were also awarded, Ellsburr Jacoby, Jon Lester, Jim Rice, Jose Mercedes, Juan Mejia and David Bsiceglia, among others.

During the tournament  other  participants were:,Jose Tapia, Pablo Tapia, George Nader Butch Plifka, Manny Montes, Bobby Orr, Robert Ankner, Roberto Vazquez, Skip Sack, Sack Gil.

For the charity day to raise funds for social actions carried out by David Ortiz in the Dominican Republic,Boston and New England, also participated,  Pedro Martínez, Mario Montero, José Miguel Bonetti, Eduardo Najri, Carlos Pichardo, Bard Mills, Ray Bal, Tim Kenny, Patricia Worman, Mike Macinnes, Ferry Francona, Michael Snyder, Nichoals sums, Harry Torres, Orlando Olave, Jason Varitke, Brendan Brazel, Doug Bedard, Ferry Lynch and Sabrina Della Russo.

Others who demonstrated their golf skills were, Clay Buchhold, filmmaker Jessy Tirant, William McKenna, Mar, Millar, Darren Moore. Tim Wakefield, Jonahtan Goldstein, Kia Miller, Dan Shwinn, Caterina Schwinn, Sean Casey, Rob Maruste, Ed Barnes, Mike Barker, Alex Battaglia, Mariano Duncan, William Morrone, Besosa Jorge Luis Bencosme, Luis Lembert. Accompanying David Ortiz in the race were:   Raul Rosario, Danilo Caro, Federico Grullon, Jose Redondo, Brad Daniel, Peggy Orr and Andrés Galarraga.

MOVING WORDS

During the ceremony there were testimonies which showed the actions that David Ortiz has developed alongside the Heart Care Foundation and the foundation that bears his name in New England.

David Ortiz addressed the attendees and the tears would not let him finish, at the time that the audicence paid him a  standing applause in approval to his actions.

The Gibson guitar signed by the Jonas Brothers, Juan Luis Guerra, Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz, Ivan Lins, Wilmer Valderama, Edward James Olmos, Yandel Wisin & Yandel, landed in the hands of the entrepreneur, George Nader who bought it  for 10 thousand dollars.

Rubby Perez was in charge  of the music at the closing ceremony of the tournament, where Alex Rodriguez  was also present.

The second edition of the David Ortiz Celebrity Golf Classic had the participation of actors  such as:  Joanna Levesque, Rachel Dratch and Trevor Duncan from the 90210 series broadcasted from Los Angeles.

David Ortiz thanked the support he  received from companies such as Reebok, Vitaminwater, Sharp, Jetblue, Codetel-Claro, Brugal, United Brands, Cigar Club, which made this tournament a great success.
