Ricardo Hazoury and Rick George evaluate The Cap Cana Championship's positive impact on the country.
On the final day of the PGA TOUR's Champions Tour "The Cap Cana Championship", Ricardo Hazoury, President of Cap Cana’s board of directors, and Rick George, President of the PGA Champions Tour, held a press conference to accredited national and international media where they drew on the highlights of the tournament, along with the development and organization of the tournament and the value it has created for the Dominican Republic.
Ricardo Hazoury expressed his satisfaction with the entire teams from Cap Cana and the PGA Champions Tour in organizing this successful event. "I am happy with the huge achievement from our team. The most praise should be given for the teams’ ability to resolve situations that have appeared during the tournament. This is an event on a grand scale, and rightly so, it needs the involvement of many people to handle the necessary logistics; it is always expected that the unexpected will occur once in a while, and I am content that we have had the capacity to face them, to resolve them, and continue to strive ahead."
He added that "Cap Cana is a likened to a machine that works well, in unique harmony thanks to its capable personnel who are Dominican in majority, in addition to the international employees focussed in continuing the success of Cap Cana through an untiring motivation and one hundred percent commitment.
Rick George maintained high praise for the accomplishments of the inaugural tournament, addressing the associated PGA TOUR's Champions Tour teams and professional players who came to Cap Cana for this special occasion to play at Punta Espada. All have been immensely impressed with the conditions of the course and with the hospitality of the Dominican people and Cap Cana team.
"This has been really impressive as everyone has worked hard for this event. In addition to the Champions Tour and professionals agreeing that Cap Cana is a wonderful place with personnel who give fantastic attention and service, we all feel like a part of the great Cap Cana family".
Rick George indicated that during the week, the professional players had the opportunity to play on a golf course that was three courses in one, due to its unique strategic challenges presented by the elements.
"Our golfers played three different courses so to speak. Punta Espada played completely different with the added wind and patches of rain. This course has an unquestionable beauty; it is spectacular while simultaneously being extremely challenging for the player and is certainly one of the best golf courses this season. On a scale from 1 to 10, I undoubtedly give this a 10".
